Pedro de Castro is an extraordinary musician, who plays the Portuguese guitar with such agile mastery that he seems to have been born with a special calling. His main reference is José Luís Nobre Costa, with whom he recorded Há Guitarra, an album that also features Joel Pina and Francisco Gonçalves. Pedro de Castro is a highly sought after musician and has already played with such great Fado singers as Ana Sofia Varela, Carlos Zel, Rão Kyao, Helder Moutinho, Ricardo Ribeiro, Katia Guerreiro, João Braga and Celeste Rodrigues.
Besides his work as a musician, Pedro de Castro is the founder of the Associação do Fado Casto and the soul of Mesa de Frades, the Fado house that he conceived for the new generation. The unique atmosphere provided by this former chapel and the remarkable group of Fado singers and performers who get together there have made it an iconic venue in Lisbon’s night life.
